Enjoying a Lazy Day

Four straight days of fun has finely caught up with me. Thank goodness I have today t catch up on sleep and just be lazy around the apartment.

Things started Wednesday with the Lake Erie Crushers game. Even thought they were no hit by the Joliet Slammers, I still had a good time. The buffet before the game was really good, and competing against my brother in the bungee tug-of-war on the field during the game was a lot of fun.

The Flogging Molly concert on Thursday was awesome. My brother and I had dinner at the new Market Garden Brewery, which was very good. We made a stop at the Old Angle Tavern before heading down the hill to Nautica. What a cool place to see a concert right along the banks of the Cuyahoga with all the downtown buildings and bridges in the background. I didn’t care for the two opening bands, but the people-watching sure was entertaining. Flogging Molly played some of their new stuff, but made sure to fill in with a lot of their other great songs. The crowd was able to coax a encore out of the band before the night was done. My brother an I were able to beat the traffic jam out of The Flats by making the short walk back to my place.

I saw Cowboys and Aliens on Friday. The blending of the two movie genres was intriguing, and the movie ended up being pretty good. How can you go wrong when you have James Bond and Han Solo/Indiana Jones as your main characters. I can’t say I cared for the Olivia Wilde character too much, although she ended up being rather integral to the overall plot. It is definitely worth seeing at a matinee.

A bunch of coworkers stopped by the apartment yesterday for a social event in my neighborhood of Ohio City. We ate at the Market Garden Brewery, which was obviously a little more busy than it was on Thursday night. Our table got a couple samplers of their different beers, so it was nice to try out the different varieties. The food was very good once again. After trying the tacos on Thursday, I got the Cuban sandwich yesterday. We wandered across West 25th to the Bier Markt after dinner to enjoy a few more drinks, before heading back to my place to enjoy some time on the patio.

Overall it was a great marathon session of fun this past week. Enjoying time with family and friends without worrying about work is always a good time.
